Bearings are of course not a shock absorber. Bearings are design to withstand loads to within their rating, exceed this and they can fail. Repeated shocks even when within their rating can cause a reduced life expectancy as with any mechanical system.
You did not quantify your statement with the magnitude, frequency and duration of the shocks or whether they are radial or axial shocks but would suggest absorbing shocks by some other means.
