John, It will work quite happily at 6V but as the nominal voltage is 12V, the available torque will be lower. Do consider the fact that motor will still be spinning at over 4,000 rpm so will be quite noisy.

No problem John. It is not possible to advise if the motor will deliver enough torque without knowing about your mechanical details such as pulley diameter and the weight of the lift.

Should be ok as running on standard Carson steering servo at present, its just a straight screw in and out shaft pulling down lightweight plastic ramps.

Not suitable to use from my esc with approx 6v output the motor runs forward at slow speed but reverse is non existant have to turn it by hand to get it moving even with nothing connected, back to the homemade servo motor i think.

John, All of our brushed motors will run forwards and reverse from an ESC without problem. I would suggest checking the voltage across the motor with full forward and then with full reverse controls. It may be that your ESC has a particularly high voltage drop. You chose a motor that is designed to run at higher voltages than 6V so as explained above, this does result in lower torque. Another test would be to apply the 6V battery direct to the motor with the ESC out of the circuit. I suspect your ESC is quite inefficient or it is not getting the full 100% forward / reverse signal. I would also recommend using a motor where it nominal rating is close to the maximum operating voltage.

my ESC is brand new and getting full power on other motors must be just wrong voltage motor, I am just going by what others have used for the same application, can you suggest another with the same ratio that would do the job, dont want to end up with motors i cant use,

John, If you can try the voltage test and or running the motor direct from the battery, we can make sure where the issue is within your project. We maintain that the motor will run at 6V but at a reduced torque. So either you are not getting full voltage at the motor or are exceeding the torque available.

I have now found a way round the problem thanks.

Forget last questions problem solved bypassed esc run direct from battery through a dpdt micro switch operated from micro servo, thanks for your patience just learning.
