When we use A4988 or A 4983 based stepper motor drivers, we prefer to fix on one of these heatsinks otherwise the driver can cut out on over-temp especially when using our 400 step NEMA 17 motors close to their rated coil current of 1.7A. These little heatsinks help the chips run that bit cooler and we even additionally use forced cooling sometimes for really cool running. Supplied with a self adhesive base.
