The 78xx and 79 series of three-terminal positive and negative voltage regulators. Although designed primarily as fixed voltage regulators, these devices can be used with external components to obtain adjustable voltages and currents.

Dropout voltage 0.5V typ. (1V max. over the entire temperature range)

Designed for automotiver applications, protected against reverse battery connection and 2-battery jumps
Short circuit and thermal overload protection
Supplied in a plastic TO-220 package
