Can you please clarify the bore size on your sprockets, ie Chain Sprocket 1/2 In - 8T - Part No: 4213-001. In your faq you indicate that they are blanks but the info sheet suggests 10mm, I need one approx 6mm.
Thanks

Mark,

Almost all of our steel sprockets and gears are pilot bore although many customers use the pilot bore as the finished size for their shafts. By a blank, we mean that the gear or sprocket requires further machining before it can be used i.e. drilling and pinning to fix it to the shaft.

We have just updated the website with our own range of steel gears and sprockets - the Tbot range. 4213-001 is currently unavailable but is replaced by the 4808-008 and has a 10mm bore. The Tbot range is cheaper and has a greater discount on mixed quantity purchases making it better value.

Mick,

If you click on the data sheet button at the top of the 6mm sprocket page you will see dimensions for all of our sprockets. The OD is 25.4mm - see http://www.technobots.co.uk/acatalog/Online_Catalogue_Tbot_6mm_Steel_Sprockets_3 3.html

We have chain available through Ebay or through our main website but is sold per metre only.

Jarek

Please see our website for a data sheet on our chain sizes at http://www.technobots.co.uk/acatalog/Online_Catalogue_Tbot_0_5_Inch_Steel_Sprock ets_32.html

However, our 1/2" sprockets are 5/16" wide with bores starting at 10mm and thus not suitable for the light duty bike chains you refer to.

Hi.
I am building a kart (based on Ian Hoppers designs) I want to use your 40 tooth 6mm sprocket part 4804-040 and a 20 tooth 1.5mod gear part number 4201-008 on a 10mm bright steel bar. Your data sheet quotes the bores as 10mm and 8 mm respectively. I assume I can drill up the 8 mm but can you please confirm and can you also confirm that your quoted 10mm bore is no bigger than that i.e it will form tight fit to the 10mm bright steel bar or will require drilling to a slightly bigger bore.

Also your 60 tooth part number 4201-020 has a 16mm bore which I would want to fit to a 5/8" bright steel bar, again is the bore suitable to fit this bar.

Finally I will be buying 2 of your 24V 300W motors which come with a 11 tooth gear. Will this match the above set up and if not what gear should I replace it with.

Many thanks

Steve

Steve,

Our gear and sprockets are pilot bored which means they are not bored to an exact tolerance. However, we have found the accuracy to be perfectly okay for our use and we have not received and negative comments from customers.

16mm bore is unlikely to be suitable for 5/8" as you will have a 0.125mm over sized hole. If you think you can live with that then okay but we cannot recommend it.

Many of our motors are supplied with a pulley or sprocket. The sprockets are not suitable for any of the chain we currently supply. Our customers tend to remove the fitted sprocket or pulley and fit one from our TBot range.

Regards

Paul

Do your sprockets come with a threaded hole and grub screw for clamping to a shaft? Or do I need to drill and tap them myself?

Andy, All of our gears and sprockets are pilot bore and do not include any method of fixing to the shaft. This is to allow the customer to use their own way of attaching such as key ways. So yes, you will need to drill and tap for grub screw fixing.

Craig,

Do you need a hub or a plain platewheel? We can supply hub versions up to 64T and platewheel up to 125T.

I could use either but the hub version 64T would be better as i want to fit some bearings in to them.

Craig,

The 64T Hub version would be £29.72 + VAT. Carriage would be £6.95 incl VAT. Delivery time typically 7 days.
