Hari, Apologies for the delay in replying. All motors will run in reverse but we cannot guarantee that the motor timing is neutral. This means that the speed may be slightly different between forwards and reverse. However, we have tested and random selection and they appeared to a similar speed in both directions. We have been unable to find out the gear material, we have a query on the factory and if that fails we will open up one of our bench test motors. Not sure if I understand what you mean by self locking gear. If you mean like a worm drive where the motor can drive the output shaft but the output shaft cannot back drive the motor then no, for the motors you quoted. Regards Paul |

Paul! Maybe I took the wrong word. No sleflocked gear mean that I'm able to move my loco by hand when no power is supplied. I think we are speaking form the same thing. Now I'm not sure if I understand your answer. [...]motor then no, for the motors you quoted. means --> no selflocking for my requested. best regards, hari |

Hari, Yes we are referring to the same thing then, these motors will allow you to push the loco by hand with no power applied. The difficulty in pushing will depend on the gearing ratio and the type of speed controller. 4QD controllers with relays for reversing effectively short out the motor when no power is applied making pushing rather hard but still possible. Regards Paul |

Paul, I've found out on another request in US which I've done in the meantime that there is on iron and one nylon wheel. I think I'll do my own gear by using a two steped chain. Thanks for all your answers. regards, hari |
