This depends on the battery type and its internal resistance. As a rule, most 17Ah SLA batteries can supply a peak current of 170 to 200A but the nominal 12V will drop by 3 or more volts. Hawker produce a battery called the Odyssey PC680 (16Ah)which has a lower internal resistance resulting in a lower voltage drop at these high currents. This means improved acceleration and pushing power. The Odyssey is frequently used as a cranking battery on cars and bikes because of its ability to delivery very high amperage.
