Hi,
I've recently purchased (from you) a GM9 motor, Wheel Watcher and GM9 mounting bracket.

First off: the image you show for the GM9 mounting bracket is slightly confusing as it shows it mounted on the side of the motor where the drive shaft comes out. So the lug at the bottom of the bracket is now in the way of the wheel. Easily solved: mount it on the other side.

My real problem is that the Wheel Watcher kit also uses these 2 holes for mounting. But the motor mounting bracket only attaches to one of the holes and then cannot sit flush with the motor because of the second screw head or nut that holds the Wheel Watcher in place.

Any help/suggestions appreciated!

Clive,

The photo you refer to was actually the manufacturers photo rather than ours although you would not know that! You refer to a wheel watcher kit, what do you mean by this, do you have our part number available. Once I can appreciate the problem, I will talk to our contacts at Solarbotics to see how it can be resolved.

You've caught me out slightly... May be I didn't get the Wheel Watcher from you. But the GM9, Wheel Watcher, and Mounting Bracket are all Solarbotics parts. So if your contacts at Solarbotics can help then it would be great.

The solarbotics Wheel Watcher is a 'cool' encoder unit for the GM9.

See http://www.solarbotics.com/products/gmww02/

The pic on that page shows the wheel watcher board attached on the output shaft side of the motor connected by two bolts that go all the way through the housing and have nuts at the other side. This is fine.

However: the motor mount is also on the 'other side' and only has a hole for ONE of the holes in the casing. So the other bolt has no hole to go through in the mounting bracket. So the only choice is to only use one bolt which means that the Wheel Watcher isn't very well mounted and any shudder may cause incorrect encoder readings.
