I am looking at your 12v 150W 6812S motor with a shaft speed of 2800rpm. Can I drive a wheel off this direct with no gearing?

Thanks,

Andrew

Andrew, you can but depending on diameter it will not be practical. Check out our robot speed http://www.technobots.co.uk/Technical/Calculators/Speed%20calc/Speed%20calc.htmc alculator and you will see what I mean - i.e. 200mm diameter wheel will give 65 mph. Practically, you need to gear down to give the desired speed which in turn will maximise the available torque.

Colin,

The RPM figure is the final drive speed so 'out of the gearbox'.
