Alan,

Thank you for your question, we are looking into it to make sure but we would anticipate the MOD as being the pitch / Pi which would give MOD0.57 or the imperial equivalent but we will double check. Your dimension of 18mm is critical in getting the correct answer so what is your confidence in that measurement?

Hi
I measured the ten teeth with a vernier caliper, it came out at 18.04mm so I assume 18mm is closer as siting the exact centre of the teeth was by eye, which is why I measured across ten teeth, do you think it could be 0.6 mod?

Alan

Hi
I am thinking if you have pinions/gears which would be in the range of my rack I don't mind buying a few different mods and seeing which one would mesh correctly.

Alan, it may be imperial size 44. The pitch of the teeth on a rack are normalized for MOD1 at Pi (3.14159mm). MOD0.6 would have a pitch of 1.884mm so is larger that your rack. Your pitch is 0.573, the nearest standardb size is 44DP which has a MOD equivalent of 0.57727 which works out as 18.135mm over 10 teeth which may be within the bounds of your measurement accuracy.

Regards

Paul
