I'd like to power the tracks from a Micro digger/tracked dumper by electric, im guessing the weight of the tracks, chassis and rollers will be about 70-80kg but i would like to power it up to 150kg in weight. i only want it to travel at a fast walking pace, can you give me any advice on what motor to use?

Alan,

What is the diameter of the drive sprocket on the track?

Andy,

I take it it is not tracked as you have a diff? What is the diameter of the drive wheels and what speed are you hoping to get?

Regards

Paul

I need a motor for my project that is around 200-500W and turns at around 800rpm. What is the closest you have?

Thanks,

Andrew

I will give you some more details on the project. I am building a buggy that will operate on flat ground - probably tarmac. I want it to go about 20 to 25mph, and have one geared motor per side. As the robot will weigh about 20kg, I think that 300W+ per side will be needed - giving 30W/kg. This should be OK to accelarate it up to 25mph quickly (do you agree?).

The rpm needed depends on the wheels used. For 25mph, I would need the following rpm:

Wheels: RPM needed:
100mm 2134 rpm
200mm 1067rpm
250mm 854rpm
300mm 711rpm

Do you have any 300-500W motors that spin at these speeds? I don't want to have to build my own gearbox.

Andrew,

Our range of motors is now severly limited due to restocking problems from the factory in China.

I always recommend 15W/kg as a starting point and modify this depending the final speed and duty. A 20kg buggy should be fine at 150W / side, 300W is plenty.

Whilst we have suitable motors, you would need to build your own reduction using chain / sprockets or gears.
