Hi,
Can I drill a hole in any part of the sprockets you make or just the thicker, inner part of the sprocket?

Chris, you certainly can lighten our range of gears and sprockets. They are supplied as pilot bored blanks and offer plenty of scope for lightening. Our own experience suggests that with machining, you should be able to lighten by up to half the original weight, especially on the larger sprockets. Lightening can take the form of reducing the diameter of the boss, pocketing the sides and drilling holes to form spokes. Here is a picture from own robot gearbox where the gears have been lightened.
