This unidirectional DC motor speed controller is based around using a 555 timer and a power. Supplied fully assembled and tested.
The controller allows controlling the Speed of a DC motor or other DC load using a Pulse-Width-Modulated (PWM) DC voltage with a Duty Cycle fully adjustable from 1 to 99%. It can can provide up to a maximum continuous current of about 5A out of the box.
Control of the speed is through a single potentiometer. The circuit also includes a LED whose brightness varies proportional to the relative speed of the motor therefore giving a visual feedback of the current speed.
